quickset is ready to go just pin and walk and you wouldnt need to put it all out if ferreting with it i zig zag it if doing a big long set so i dont have to run full length :victory: a traditional you have to run whole net out then pin at both ends then put each peg in :icon_eek: both work well but i would go for the quickset :clapper:

I use quicksets my mate uses traditional there is always keen competition between us to prove one type better than the other. To be perfectly honest there is nothing between them, there is nothing you do with a quickest that you can't do with a traditional or vice versa. In fact a traditional is better when it comes to fences and unleveled ground.Quick sets need a fair bit of practice.

Hope this helps.P1

You may have to , but people who know how to set a net properly do not. That is a major difference.

Bit of a controdiction going on there, me thinks.

Like I said mate I can do anything with either net but the beginner would possibly be better with traditional for fences and uneven ground.

Your choice ,Good luck P1

i used my longets for first time today hardwork im thinking about selling them and getting the ones in baskets

you dont sell them  you just need to buy poles and a basket

i know i realised after i put it  one of them i already have i think is 50yd the poles and the rubbers attached just need the basket....the other 3 are 25yds they have poles attached either end and some other poles that come with it...i'll have to get some of them rubber bits and few more baskets :drink:

I am by no means a longnet expert, but the differences as I percieve them are thus:

The quickset is as the name suggests, quicker to run out. However I think it loses this advantage the second you take it off ideal ground. On perfect ground ground it may be quicker for a novice netter...but once you get to netting where there is a bit of unlevel ground, you may just find that there will be gaps between the earth and the footline as you can not peg to the contour of the ground. You can with a traditional.

The traditional net may seem slower to run out [god knows I struggled the first few times] but as with anything, practise will get you there. I bet some of the expert net blokes here could run their trads out very swiftly. And what's the point in speed if there are gaps under the net?

So, personally, from one novice to another, I would reccomend the traditional net. It's worth learning to do and is ultimately much more versatile, which is what you need if you ferret on uneven ground as I do. Practise and field experience will hasten running out and picking up time.
