Well it all started back for me in 1978, my first introduction into hunting came in the form of deer hunting. The local chipper owner was mad into his deer hunting and I tagged along with him one night and that was me hooked. Did that for a number of years, also did a bit of bunny bashing with the shottie.

Then one day I discovered that the girl next door had two big lumps on her chest, went a stray for a few years  , then got into a bit of ratting with the jackers, then went astray again, which I wont go into :whistling::whistling: . Took up pike angling for a number of years, then got back into it many years ago when a mate of mine got a whippet, it had been a great life for me. So thanks to the local chipper I am now enjoying the country way of life

In 1997 when i was 12 I got a call off a fishing mate of mine one day asking if i wanted to try something called "ferreting"? he didn't give me many details and at first i wasn't sure about the whole thing and was more interested in playing with the ferrets, i tagged along a few more times and quickly got in to it. got my first ferret 6 months later, and another 6 quickly followed. then a year later i landed back to my mums house with a rescue ex raceing greyhound (which i was quickly made to return), about 6 months after that i was allowed to buy a lurcher pup, then another, and another, and another then a russell then a whippet and here i am today.

just wondering how long members have been hunting for and how did you get into the hunting game, and what was your first type of dog

hunting has been a tradition in my mother's side of the family since world war 2, my papa was off a family of 9, couldn't live off the rations, he had 2 lurchers and lived off the land as well as their rations, he passed his knowledge onto his son and basically he showed me a lot of lurcher and terrier work, a started ferriting from about 8 upwards till i was allowd my first lurcher and it was a wee beddy whippet 1st cross, great rabbiting dog so that's how i got into the hunting game and i hope to pass it onto my daughter, nieces and nephew :victory:
