dog fox 16
this bitch has tought me more than ive tought her ,and to be honest i only got her to take the presure off the terriers i work .but have grown very fond of her she,s nice and steady around any stock and any terriers she works with she has always retrieved very well and have not realy had to train her to do anything realy she just doe,s it ,she jumps well and has always wanted to ,she has up to date mark three reds to ground and been right on all 3 ,and even lends a hand at the end of a dig or two ,but being young she hasnt been pushed to hard just left to do her own thing but is well behaved with it,one of those dogs thats never away from your side unless she should be and then is straight back ,so can,t complain realy ,the last time out she had 2 rabbits and crushed one to pulp and the other one ended up in to with her eating the other half .so i took her straight back to van and took her home ,so this might have worked as tonight she brought it staight back and left it at my feet for a swop for a bit of food and didnt end up a tug of war .if i leave her and walk away she will just eat it . so i think the treat method is working as tonight we came home best of friends

matmorgan 49
had a dog that done exacly the same.have to say i woulds hit her or flick her snout she might start to think shes doing rong by bringing you the rabbit.i just used to squat next to her holding the rabbit teling her good girl till she let go.dont matter how long this takes to start with.she will soon learn that the sooner she gives the rabbit up the sooner she can get another chase.imo avoid hitting your lurcher at all cost.its your mate she needs to trust you.short sharp answers can sometimes make long term problems.good luck.atb.mat.remember encouragement is the key.
