Hi there im new to the website and just started ferreting. I have been out twice with my mate using his ferret, but this sunday i am gonna try it on my own with my ferret. its the first time the ferret has worked but i have trained it for 1 hour each night in a drain pipe for the last 3 weeks . Are there any tips or anything i should be aware of when i go. Hope someone could help.

Stick to small burrows till you and the fred are confident .Don't panic if it takes its time underground an d be gentle with it when it emerges so that it does'ntget nervous about coming to hand . Hope this helps and good luck.

Feed it a few hours before you head out then let it have a couple of hours sleep.

Pack up long before darkness, nowt worse than a deep lay up when its getting dark.

Be very quiet around the holes (if your netting).

Good luck , dont worry if you dont catch much at first and dont panic if the ferret takes its time it knows more than you do about this game
