i want it for ferreting and for lamping

i want to keep the size down so no greyhound x

 

any ideas

and maybe you have a puppy or fully trained dog for sale

Why "no Greyhound X" ?? A Beddy/Grey would seem ideal for what you want.

i think the typical lurcher would do perfect collie X greyhound, my uncle worked his one for about 10 years and it was one of the best ferreting dogs i've seen, and she was just above knee height

A 3/4 whippet x 1/4 beddie would fit the bill imo,something like Magwitch's Ted, some of his posts in the ferreting section may show him.

Yeah a whip/bed would do the job, but I am not ruling out other breeds, I am sure that that a collie grey would also do the job, I know cos I have one

i got some pure bred whippets pups if they are any good to you £275 bitches will make very good little rabbit dogs

I've got to say you'll not go far wrong with a whippet, I have one for ferreting and lamping (hes only 14months) and hes coming on a treat. I,ve seen collie x's ferreting and on the lamp and these are good but as far as it goes for a ferreting dog I'd go for a whippet. ATB and good luck John

if you go down the 3/4 whippet route, around half that litter will be indistinguishable from purebred whippets, you might as well just go for a whippet and you could do worse. i've opted for a bedlington/greyhound first cross myself, they level out 20" to 23" , working whippets these days tend to fall in between that, so not much difference in size, with the beddy cross you have the added benefit of being able to take fox. good luck with your search.

Iv got two Beddyxs

Ones a Beddy/Gh/Whip X Beddy/Gh/Whip

and ones a Bedd/Whip x Beddy/Gh

 

Both are 23 and under and are excellent rabbiting dogs be it lamping/ferreting or just mooching about,

 

Dont forget that Gh/Whip make excellent rabbiting dogs mate if the grounds right...

 

Dont be put off by the add Gh blood....

 

What sort of land will you be working with the dog fella?

i know you have already said no grey ...but im going to share . my friend has a collie x grey/saluki x grey its a bitch around 23/24tts and a exelent rabbiting and rerreting dog ,so if you were going to add a grey to your choice mate this x or a beddy grey ore the ones to go for but if your sticking to whippet then a beddy whippet is the way forward mate atb .shaun

Try this for size

 

 

She's first X Beddy/wip back to a pure Collie 20 1/2 TTS.

Ive seen faster dogs but the little speed she lacks she makes up for with brains and turns like shes on rails

If this is the same bitch that I've seen running then she's a little cracker, she's also the spit of my Beddylurcher X kelpie, for a robust, hard working, smart lurcher I'd say they're hard to beat. Pace is the only down side but only just, plenty of stuff that's found it's way into the bag probably wouldn't agree!!!
