birkychrissy 3
hi all, was out with the ferrets yesterday (even tho it was freezing) went to first set of about 10 holes and not a thing, second set was 7 holes and bolted 4 out of it then the next set along was on a steep banking with around 4 5 holes got 3 from that on the way bak we decided to stop at one we never seen before. so put the old polecat jill down and almost instantly bolted out a rabbit, then heard rumbkling then nothing and no ferrett appeared so we put down the 2 younger polecat jills and they were down for about half hour 1 rabbit came out then they 2 came out but still no older one, so we hanged around for 3 hours freezing and it was pitch black, then we decided to block the holes up and leave. so went back this mornin opened one of the holes up and shouted on her and about 5 minit later she came out was freezin but just glad got me ferrett back :)and 9 bunnies. atb. birkychrissy 3
cheers mate. dont use locaters if they dont come out just wait on them coming out. would rather sit around for 4 hours than dig 4ft through roots and rocks. atb Quote Link to post

longdog13 36
Me either. I'm lucky enough to own ferrets that don't lay up. Bred from this line for years and have been fortunate with the outcome. Quote Link to post
birkychrissy 3
my ferrets dont usually lay up just the old polecat was my grandads n i took her out to try learn the young ones a trick or 2. think maybe cause she wasnt used to me thats why she didnt come out ? he was there the next day and she came out when he shouted on her. atb birkychrissy Quote Link to post
ferretville 69
cheers mate. dont use locaters if they dont come out just wait on them coming out. would rather sit around for 4 hours than dig 4ft through roots and rocks. atb You`d rather sit around for hours christ its much quicker to locate dig and extract your ferret. What if your ferret was stuck and unable to move what then just twiddle your thumbs and hope for the best . Hell of alot easier using a locator mate saves time and if your ferrets on to rabbits you`ve got your game Quote Link to post
birkychrissy 3
probz would get a locater but if i have 3 ferretts then that must meen id have 2 spend a fortune on them. money that i do not have at the moment plus what if you start digging and you hit a big rock? seen it befor old sandstones under the ground wich you cant get throo. FightTheBan 1,147
Ive dug down to my old cinamon bitch before in a stop end, with a cave in behind her. With no locator she would most certainly have died, get yourself a locator, even with just one collar its a start. Quote Link to post
birkychrissy 3
think i may invest in one then Quote Link to post
wrenyboy 0
case yer wondering im not reely a good digger mad [bANNED TEXT] get a locator digging is easy Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Go for it mate, you wont regret it. If your ferrets mean anything to you even just the peace of mind knowing there all right is worth it. Ill work my ferrets anywhere, places i would never have done when i didnt have a locator. Keep an eye out for a second hand one on here, save you a couple of quid. Quote Link to post

The one 8,467
Thats what happened to me in the days before locators i would ferret with my father and uncle and if a ferret laided up iwas left to wait on it coming out while they carried on ferreting but due to changes and having locators its now so much easier Quote Link to post
