Hollie 21
That sort of situation is the thing nightmares are made of Personally i would have thought that a parent would automatically save thier child, i know it sounds awful but i doubt the wife will ever be able to forgive him for not saving the child ! The Seeker 3,048
Yeah I read it in the paper, apparently his wife was out of the car but struggling to swim and his son was in the car which was sinking (he could only make out the rear tail lights under the water). He had to make a choice risk losing them both or save his wife. I can not even begin to think what that would be like....
SNAP SHOT 194
its a decision no matter what he done, that will stay with him for the rest of his life.... So sad...

RicW 67
its a decision no matter what he done, that will stay with him for the rest of his life.... So sad... Gods forbid that I should ever have to make that choice. Imagine the feelings of the mother if she knows that she is alive at the expense of the life of her child. mcass123 6
in a situation like that where you must make a choice, i would rather die and have them both live, not a choice any parent / husband or wife should ever need to make. very sad
Tis TM 8
Just too heart wrenching nothing written could ever sum up how that poor family must feel.
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Jesus!!! I personally would do all I can to save my child, not a nice choice to make though is it.
Swampy 147
What was his decision? Did he save the lad? In the cold hard light of day and playing the retrospective game(easiest one to play!) Its gotta be go for the lad. If she ws alive but couldn't swim. she still had a chance of surviving. The lad had none. Also as a parent wouldn't they always give their own life for that of their child? However, how many can say that they would make any decision under such circumstances. Not something I would claim to be able to do. Horrible Reminds me of i-robot. rgds Swampy too sad to ning
SNAP SHOT 194
the wife was outta the car swampy, and the son was in the car as the car was sinking, knowing that he may end up loosing both trying to save his son..... he took the option of saving his wife who could be saved......!!!! logic would determine that saving one, rather than loosing both was the right decision..... A tough heart rendering call but yes i think he made the right decision.... Snap.

She would at have about 4 mins befor she was passed the point of recovery without braindamage. Its four minutes I'd (I would like to think I would.........again unlikely!)use to get to the boy. I'd expect if the role was reversed that my wife would leave me and get my son. This is obviously hypothetical and in no way should be used to critisise the poor mans decision. The thought that he has to live with that decision for the rest of his life must be destroying him.............My heart felt sympathies go out to him.
