irishnut 297
do you know what to look out for, inner sills, inner wings and boot floor all rust like crazy ,if it has 2 sun roofs expect at least 1 of them to leak, 200 tdi engine is pretty much bullet proof as is gearbox and transfer box, although a little agricultural sounding, very capable off road, and rather comfortable on road,
lamm 0
I have to be honest for the price you can pick up a 300tdi now go for that but check for the usual stuff. Most 200tdi's are on there last legs structualy Matt

lamm 0
Most 200tdi's are on there last legs structualy Matt arnt all landys? mate of mine got a 98 disco with more rot and welding than my other mates series lla It all depends on what sort of life they have had and if they get abused or not. My '98 300tdi is clean only very minor rust. If they get waxoiled every 2 years you'll find there not too bad but once the rust does get in it a continual battle to stop it spreading Matt
mikeyblue 28
I have a 200tdi mate, and havent looked back. I was lucky as it had all the work on the sills, and boot floor already done. It has flown through the test with only one advisory (small oil leak) I have put some Grizzly Claw tyres on and it now goes anywhere. Love it!!
mwncidur 0
Good battle bus. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix. I bought one recently, £400 few small patches on inner wings needed welding, and 2 fist sized holes on the boot floor. No welding on sills needed. I've put 4 new track rod ends on it (one had play, but changed them all so I know where I am) and got 2 bits of brake pipe to replace. By the time its ready for test it will have cost me about £40 Edited January 4, 2010 by mwncidur
