Coneytrappr 30
Never said folks were keeping their ferrets like rubbish, just that they treat them like rubbish. There is a difference, albeit a subtle one. To discard something is to treat it like rubbish, in my opinion. I'm of the opposite view- I have decent ferret housing, a supply of rabbits and other wee bodies that need to be disposed of and ferrets that work so well for me that a few non workers make no difference at all. I have no reason not to keep them. Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Yeah it is a subtle one, almost so subtle its not worth saying. I dont treat my ferrets like rubbish or keep them like rubbish, I just wouldnt keep a ferret that sulks. Cant be bothered going over covered ground, agree to disagree. Quote Link to post

ferret lady 73
[Keep one for years ? You have just recommended that someone kill their ferrets at the age of 6 months after she has worked 2 snotty times - who is the stupid one giving crap advice like that. No one is saying people should keep a ferret who wont work but there is certainly a lot better choices then killing them ( if one had a concience which obviously you dont ) I think you will find A LOT of people ask rescues for working ferrets ( around 60-70% ask us for working ferrets - sadly its a big no from us to rehome to working homes - it didnt use to be like that but since joining this forum no way would I want any of my guys living with the majority of people from here ) This forum is giving working ferrets a real bad name instead of educating people. There is totally no need to cull or anything like that - if there is to many ferrets then stop bloody breeding ( but then u breed a lot dont you ? You are local to me and my friend know you ) So you're going to condemn all those who work their ferrets because you don't like the comments of one or two? I joined this forum to learn about working ferrets and have gained the exact opposite impression as you. I'm very impressed at the attitude of the vast majority of those who keep and breed ferrets for working. Most are obviously very knowledgeable about the ferrets and give them excellent care, far more so than many pet owners, and it seems that working ferrets have longer, healthier lives than many pet ones. If I were a rescue, I'd certainly be delighted to rehome ferrets to experienced working homes. Quote Link to post

j davies 8
hi mate. I had exactly that same problem. i persevered and it got nowhere. cut your losses, save your food and nut it off mate, it's for the best And they wonder why rescues wont rehome to working homes Exactly WORKING!!! Why the f**k would you keep a ferret for years that doesn't work. Working people to my knowledge do nat ask rescue orgs for ferrets it really pisses me of when people try and accuse realistic working people of being unsuitable owners Have you never heard of culling?! Stupid fluffy b*****ds are the reason so many problems occure with mass breed rubbish Rant over thankyou i take the first thing you said about mass breeding your right there but if you your self reared ferrets that were no good it would be you not them and to just kill sorry (cull) them then your one that just breeds them and sells them if they end up no good you blame the ferrets not the owners. its how they are fetched up young ferrets today are expected to work the dasy they leave the mohter going of what peolpe say on here you should read what comes on here a young ferret should not be worked first year at all they like pups they need time to mature but no one cares about that they stick it down a hole bolts nothing and its got rid of Quote Link to post
