410phil 4
Right then folks here's one for you to have a think about. Foxes digging up a football pitch can't use snares or firearms had one in trap but some fecking tree hugger let it out and now they won't go anywhere near the traps Taking baits from in front of the traps but won't go inside to feed. The food outside the traps has now been stopped in the hope they will be forced to feed on the trap baits but NO!! they are having none of it.. I am at my wits end and the club want a result as its causing a right load of moither. Cheers folks any suggestions would be a great help ta 410 Phil ;) Quote Link to post

Guest AngelicAcid
Are you sure its Foxes mate, just because you trapped one doesnt mean its a fox. Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
Ole badger will make a hell of a mess looking for worms and slugs etc on a nice open grassy field, but then i would have expected one in the trap if that was the case Quote Link to post
410phil 4
its defo foxes I have sat and watched them and no firearms because they are surrounded by houses and they don't want the folks to know they are shooting them. Quote Link to post

The one 8,467
Trace back to where there coming from and deal with them there Quote Link to post
410phil 4
Its very illegal to poison foxes although the thought had crossed my mind a time or two Quote Link to post
shazdre 0
attach a small wire cage to end of trap enter live rabbit guaranteed catch and if you dont want no do gooding tree huger releasing it squeek him in he will see fluffy and go for kill Quote Link to post
trappa 518
I personally would be there with a .22 rimmy and sort the problem. The pitch owners wont be none the wiser as its whisper quiet and if you can set yourself up properly and they are used to people being in a built up area you should be able to get pretty close. Other than that your limited to, like the other lad said and "go to the source of the problem" and eradicate them. Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Tricky one. Certainly wouldn't shoot without the pitch owner's OK, or use a live rabbit for bait! A rimmy with NV if you can persuade the owners, from an elevated position (and assuming you're on an open ticket) would be the best bet, if not, try to remove all sources of grub and persevere with the cages. Would electric fencing added to existing boundaries be an option? James Quote Link to post
dave1372 83
Like the guys have suggested you have done what is sensible so far without success so the only practical method left is a .22 rimfire with a moderator. There won't be many people about at 2am in the morning. If they won't let you use it the walk away from the job, it will be their problem! Quote Link to post
santons 2
I had a simular problem only in the middle of a bowling green, spent £800 on securing the boundary fence, the bloody fox got run over the following morning, cant win them all Quote Link to post
410phil 4
The owners have agreed to silenced firearms so if anyone can help it would be great, its in Greater Manchester and would be paid, you Must have insurance. cheers Phil Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Glad they've seen sense Phil. Bear in mind that 'normal' (NGO, BASC, CA etc) insurance won't cover anyone if they're being paid. They'll need an open ticket too, of course. Shame you're so far away! Let us know how you get on James Quote Link to post
