stealthy1 3,964
Imagine waiting for your Mrs at an agreed meeting place to pick her up after shopping with her mates, and she's three hour late, now if she was wearing a collar? Quote Link to post

Edgar 1
I manage without. Can't afford a finder though they are definitely a good idea. If a ferret stays down give it plenty of time. If you have to go away without it (fortunately this has never happened to me) then set a baited live catch trap for it and come back in the morning. Watch out with second hand finders, "second hand" can mean "broken". Quote Link to post
micky 3,325
I use a line with leather collar Have done for years never have to dig atb rich well why do you use a line and collar if you have never had to dig ,why bother? Quote Link to post
Downunder_Sthn_Ferreter 16
Have never used one myself.. Considered one a while back, but seriously i don't feel they are mandatory to success or quicker workings etc. Over the years we have always had terriers with us. There better as they don't need batteries replacing and make for entertainment. Yet to see a collar of any type make me smile.... Well unless its one of those studded type affairs on one of the Tv show Charmed girls etc.... Also it seems when you here of people who use locaters often, there is always mention of a shovel. Obviously the dig is probably more sort after when using locators as it takes the guessing away. Then again so do the terriers... Cheers, Shaun Quote Link to post
micky 3,325
I use a line with leather collar Have done for years never have to dig atb rich well why do you use a line and collar if you have never had to dig ,why bother? it's because i was shown over 15 years ago this way how to work ferrits on lines and it's worked for me thats why i've used one all the time i've been ferriting so how long you been ferriting and how many times you've had to dig and what method do you use rich over 50 years, 100s probably more, the spade method i would not go out nowdays without a box and collers ,lining is allright if you like digging and you have a day to waste.Tell me mate why do you put a line on a ferret for ? if your not going to dig. fensaluki 35
Lets have it right boys lines are down right dangerous to ferrets and often leathal...This is not just my opinion but a time proven fact especialy in headge rows and wooded areas were a ferret can soon hang himself on roots. I'm sure that most people on here that have served a long apprentiship with the little critters will agree and most will have heard of, witnessed or infact themself lost a good working ferret to these death traps.I would always advise a locator as it make for a much more enjoyable day when you know were your workers are but if yoou dont want to make the investment put them down loose and be patient.
