doxhope 2
It wasnt beaten where I live matie.. and had to ammend it, it was 216 with 3 dogs..got wrong off Kevin, in my book for some reason I put 213 too, but the scores that Yella and Sophie got are the same, it was the third dog Jack that got 55 My bitch Yella got , my mate Kevin from Bedlington his bitch Sophie (Yellas daughter got 81 and 2 hares) at around the 50 mark each Kevin asked what we were going to do, I told him we are going to go for a number that will not be beaten for a while. We were quite away from the road, and on top of some quite big hills and we were catching rabbits, killing them and throwing them away. Bloody dogs were going for the ones we chucked and carrying them back. We brought around 150 rabbits home, when I was getting the dogs sorted the other 2 dropped all the rabbits in my yard and did off, I was on all day doing them. I was out 2 nights later with lads from Newbiggin..and Yella got 27 Sorry, this too had to be ammended now Ive checked my books (must be an age thing, good job I documented everything Ive done sine the 70`s) We killed the 216 on the 1st, and on the 7th Yella got 33 and Sophie 55 that night. Two nights later Yella actually killed 9 Great to see your pics on the big bag you got on the dales..I was reading that post with interest, well done. If your ever up this neck of the woods, call in for a cuppa.. Quote Link to post

Malt 379
4 with my young beddy/whippet so far, but then I've only ever seen 5 taken off that particular land by a decent lurcher so it's not bad going. Not great numbers of runnable coney round here I'm afraid. Quote Link to post
CorkyJohn 808
Thats some catch Tomo, must've took you just as long to hang them as it did to catch them lol Quote Link to post

doxhope 2
some squatters, some short runs, some that ran like hares, you know what its like on a nights lamping..Yes it is a hell of a score, I am a numbers man, and its the best Ive done in one night, and an achievement that I never let anyone take anything away from what the dogs did on that night..no we didnt have to carry them back, no they werent totally f**ked, that night happened on the 1st of the month, Yella was out again on the 3rd-9 rabbits, 7th-33 rabbits, 14th 8 rabbits, 18th 3 rabbits, 23rd 11 rabbits, 25th 24 rabbits, 27th 15 rabbits, 29th 8 rabbits and 30th 9 rabbits Quote Link to post

Ive had to travel this season to get better bags, and once you seen+done it, you know it comes down to ground fact. Ok you need a good dog, but the more they catch the better they get. Numbers game [GROUND].?? Quote Link to post
doxhope 2
Cheers Bird, agree with most of what you say, ground does help alot, your not going to get 30 rabbits on a golf course..and you certainly cant catch big bags if theres not the rabbits to catch, that why we travelled..but, Ive took lads from different parts of the country and they came back with a lot less that on the same ground we were getting a lot more. Even on good ground the rabbits dont just jump into your gamebag. I remember a lad from Durham carrying his dog back to the car, and calling us mad for the way were were grafting ours. Locally at the time Im speaking of, there were a lot of teams of lads going out with dogs lamping, Ive lamped places where Ive seen 2, 3 or 4 other sets of lamps flashing about. These other lads were getting good hauls, but couldnt touch the numbers we were getting. If it were all to do with the ground, all the dogs up here would have taken these sort of numbers..There are less than 10 dogs where I come from that have taken over 40 rabbits in one night.. So yes, totally agree its good ground for numbers, but, also a good dog..one without the other, and you wont get the really big bags. And dont forget, these dogs didnt just kill rabbits, weve lamped massive bags before, and on the way home parked up till it broke light so we could race, and kill some hares. Quote Link to post
