James Doyle 59
i know what you mean sounder. They surely should issue some sort of discount for serious shooters like yourself with a lot of guns. My father wouldnt really be a serious shooter and only has one gun. But it is very dear if you have a good few guns Quote Link to post
JohnGalway 1,043
In relation to the fees, if you're into rifles then it works out better than the old system. € for three years instead of €38 per year. Shotgun shooters got the raw end of it though, as they were €25 for the first shotgun and €6 per year for subsequent licenses if my memory serves me correctly. I was in the first lot to have to use the new forms, once you sat down seriously to do them most of it was OK. But, they were in too much of a rush to get it done, and a lot of shooters were nervous about not having certain details clarified in time to get work done, such as fitting alarms, locks and finding out whether their existing safes met the grade or not. They need to standardise how they're dealing with the forms across the country. I hadn't needed to submit permissions but I know a lot of lads had Superintendents and FO's demanding it, which is ridiculous. I got my moderater permission fine, got two ammo levels raised fine. Apart from the stress of just going through something new I found it clumsy and far from satisfactory. It could have been done a lot better, but now we know how to deal with it at least. Pistol shooters got ass reamed for sure It wasn't right at all what was done to them. Quote Link to post
