Downunder_Sthn_Ferreter 16
Wasn't the nicest of weather down here this morning with a few wind assisted showers making it a little damp. Still the game was on the move after a pretty slow start in the first set. Just the one was dispatched there... I snapped off this pic after spotting a fair attempt of a commando camo rabbit doing its best to conceal itself. Unfortunately when it did bolt seconds after this pic was taken, My Whippet had missed the boat so to speak and had to watch the distance increase as it sped away... Next set was a little better with a quick trio taken before it was over. Tasha Licks her lips in anticipation A bit more serious style of set. The girls nail a bolter. Moving on a little i came across this set. This was a fair size with around 47 entrys. After 15/20 mins slapping down nets i was pretty much ready. as were the girls. In under an hour i had ten and had missed just one. Was a great bit of action with a few multiple hits that kept me pretty busy... The dogs are gold here as they are just so quick to react. Coco even had a quick rest while i legged the catch Snapped of this pic after leaving the large bury... Great colour match in the tall grass. Here's my Polecat Ferret "Molly" after bolting a few on the last bury i worked. In all i had 18 to take home There is 5 missing from this pic as this pic was taken before i bagged the final 5.. Downunder_Sthn_Ferreter 16
Well done mate! Is that a black eyed white ferret you have there? Gday James, No she's a Polecat Jill desexed. Around 16 months old now, shaping up very very well as a solid worker from what I've seen so far. Here's another pic indoors to show you her coloration. I also have a B/E/W Jill that was also desexed around the same time as the polecat. She too, has been a delight to work so far with no hold ups whatsoever... Christ lovely clear burrows your working mate Yes it makes for a lot less hassle if you can get it. We have plenty of assorted shitpiles of Blackberrys & Gorse in a lot of area's near where i frequent. Longnetting would be a far better option than pooncing about with purse nets though. Hope to get a couple of longnets one day as there is some excellent places i have in mind where they would work very well. Particulary close to home in some factory paddock areas where the local Bunny's are a whole lot more street wise than the typical country Rabbit. Cheers, Shaun Quote Link to post
