It can be a sign of worms

OR

It could be that the anal glands need 'expressing'

Anal glands need expressing if the diet does not contain enough roughage, usually, a good diet, when it passes will force the glands to empty themselves, when i worked as a dog groomer, the breeds that usually needed their glands doing were the 'silly, fussy' breeds like the Cav king Charles, yorkies etc because they tended to be fed a crappy diet of tinned food!

Try worming your dog, if he still has the problem, look at what you are feeding and maybe alter the diet slightly (adding a handful of biscuits could help) if all else fails you will have to empty them for him.........not a nice job, i would get someone to show you 1st as it can be messy and it is very very smelly sick.gif

(If you take your dog to the local grooming shop they will probably do it for you alot cheaper than the vet will thumbs.gif )

its most probably its anal glands get em squeezed and then add a teaspoon of bran to its food, it firms em up and makes natural gland emptying a bit easyer. if you worm your dog regular then you shouldnt get worm problems, try using the vet wormer Milbemax its the best thing on the market kills every type of worm and its cheap.
