I havent meet the bloke yet but if i cant dig i wont ferret my ferrets mean more than a upturned bit of earth

I have some permission on a nature reserve and when i met them initially they said i couldn't dig. I told them i wasn't interested then and explained like you how much the ferrets mean to me(and the 15" collars at nearly £50 a pop). I told them that all the ferrets would have a locator collar fitted and that you only usually need to dig one hole. I also told them that if i needed to dig i would turf the top and back fill and make sure the ground was as i found it. It worked for me and i got written permission. The only times i can't ferret on there is on a sunday due to public access. Oh and i need to wear a high Viz jacket :wallbash: :wallbash:

the reason they dont want you there on a sunday is just what you said people see you thats because they will kick off big time

Just say what he wants to hear mate, as mally says, just dig when you really have to and leave it as you found it.

What's the worst that can happen, loose the permission, so you'll be no worse off than when you started and you'll get a few days sport in to boot.

We have 2 big permissions on national trust and sussex wildlife trust land that we have done for years

although they are not keen on you digging they understand that sometimes it is nesessary and are fine with it

We do these permissions what ever days we want with whatever is needed ferrets /guns/longnets /lamping etc

So not all conservations are clueless to what is needed to control rabbits effectively

They have built up there trust in us over the years and we can pretty much do as we like
