Marksman 934
Myself and Festa have been clearing part of our new permission for the last few weeks now and just when we thought they were going thin on the ground and we were making headway we didn't half get a shock last night!! We got to where we wanted to be at around 5am and man, was it cold! After setting up the rifles we went our separate ways. It was my first time out with my new Deben Tracer lamp and I have to say they are well worth the money! Anyway in all my honesty I've seen nothing like it, there were bunnies everywhere, but they weren't drifting very far from the warrens, as soon as they saw the flick of the lamp they scarpered underground. After about an hour and me not hitting ANYTHING I thought something's up here.... My scopes were aiming 2 mildots low I met up with wor kid who had already bagged his 3rd bunny all by precise headshots by camping up at his zero distance of 30m by the railway sidings. After an hour and a half we made our way back towards the van for a cuppa before we started our days ferreting. Wor kid decided to have a last ditch attempt along the hedgerows and bagged another 2 whilst I nipped into the adjacent field and made a scope adjustment. Just as I'd finished I scanned the field and saw a lone bunny trying to hide from me in the marsh grass. I adjusted the lamp, brought the scope to my eye and lined up the crosshairs on the bunnies brain and gently squeezed the trigger.....The dull thud of the pellet hitting home left the bunny keeled over with grey matter hanging from it's head...Finally, I had a kill! I made my way back to the van for a well deserved cuppa. All credit goes to wor kid though for a good hours shooting bagging 5 to my lone bunny! Pic below... The rest of our day can be found in the ferreting section.....thanks for reading Darryl Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
It's not the rifle mate, its the shooter friend . You are the one that brings out the potential of that Pro Sport mate As I’ve said on a number of occasions, these quality rifles can shoot beyond most peoples capabilities. You just happen to be a flipping great shot and so have the edge over a lot of people who have a £1000 PCP rifle. (You have learnt well my Jedi friend) I’m just honoured to go shooting with lads that can shoot so cleanly and accurate in all situations, like Chris Reggaeman Joey Wuzzy, Gary Festa and Darryl Marksman. Keep up the good work lads Si Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Nice shooting lads At least you got to see some, I went out to the paddock last night where there are hundreds of the feckers, I got myself hidden behind the caravan and didn't see one single bunny in the three hours I was there! Before I left, I had a wander around the graveyard, fresh diggins all over but not a single coney I came home very disheartened, then the heavens opened and didn't stop p!ssing it down all night seems they can predict the weather better than I can Its now dry but very cloudy, the wind has dropped so I'm gonna try again tonight I'm looking to beat my high score of 4 bunnies:D Phantom Edited November 29, 2009 by Phantom Quote Link to post
