Lee85 44
The baby woke me up this morning at about 7:00am, I took him downstairs, changed and fed him and put him back to bed, so around half 7 whispered the mrs I was gunna go shooting for a couple of hour, got changed, snook around the house and went out to grab the rifle from the garage - totally forgot about the weather, although at this point around half 7, it was just drizzle. My mate has my rifle at the moment as it had more air in it and he was going ratting somewhere, so I took his AAS400 CLASSIC with only about 130bar in but I thought it would do the job. The permission is only about 20 mins walk so I set off, just getting onto the farm track it started to bounce it down but I thought 'bollocks, i've started now so i'm not going home'. My plan was to shoot 'something' - although the original plan was rabbits, because of the weather I decided the winged type would be my best chance, I thought I might bag a crow or something scavaging for worms. Got into the woodland area and I saw a tree rat straight away running along the floor but I hadn't unpacked the rifle yet so I let it be and got the rifle out as it hurried away. Still pissing it down I was thinking it would be quite uneventfull, I wandered around the 'squirrel areas' I usually shoot in and there was nothing, I did however take a long shot at a solitary rabbit which I missed! Anyway I went down to the bottom end of my permission and saw a few woodys grazing under some bush, about 30 yard away - I lined up the rifle and took one out, nice clean head shot. With this I was happy because like with fishing 'at least I got something!' I did continue around for about an hour extra but decided to head off home as I was drenched and the floor was like weetabix. Couple of pics, including a tree which hadn't fallen last week, wouldn't of liked to been around when it went: I re-homed the woody on a nice piece of ceramic. Quote Link to post
