irishnut 297
im looking to buy my brother a knife for christmas, needs to be around 3.5" fixed blade, and made from carbon or high carbon stainless steel, none of that 440 stainless rubbish. and have a drop point front, prefer synthetic scales(handle). no gut hook needed. i actually make knives, so i know exactly the shape, size and material i want, but dont know any good knife names to check out, i could just make it but dont want to look like a miserable tw#t. i haven't bought a knife in 10 or 12 years. i'm happy to spend up to 150-200 quid,

irishnut 297
i've made one already, but the problem i have is that when i give mates or family a knife they think of it as a show/decrative piece and not for working, i just read of a falkiner(bad spelling possible) made from D2 steel, he's getting it i think, better be great, infact it better know how to drive and love him at the price

irishnut 297
can't decide between fallkniven nl5 idun or a nice boker, reviews on both knives are great, so i must investigate further, i prefer carbon steel, but have to admit some of the newer laminates are as good if not better

irishnut 297
my bro won't use handmade stuff incase he breaks it, stupid i say, its made to use, i never sell the knives, make about 1 per month and give it away, only started making them because i dont really like the way there is no real knife shop near me to go and actually handle a decent knife before you buy, not fond of the knives that most gun shops sell, cheap for a reason, i should get pics on tomorrow, have to buy a lead to connect laptop to mobile
