i took him home last night and he has been great, hardly a chirp out of him overnight and he is runnin about the now with my niece, he hasnt really eaten much since i got him (last night) but i am putting that down to him being unsettled, could this be right?

yeaqrs ago 2o plus we had deerhoundy type of dogs we picked the smallest bitch as the dogs were real big for the hares , but not runty just smaller , usaly ended up with a 25 26 inch animal were the dogs were 28 plus and not as nimble , i never go for size lenth of back strong head good feet and look at what the parents are and if lucky grand parents etc

Theres a big difference between a runt (small because of some kind of problem) and the smallest pup of the litter....Ive picked the smallest pup before out of a few litters, most turned out cracking dogs, and the best all round lurcher Ive seen on was picked this way, in fact at birth she was thrown to one side as "one for the sweeps"

Size of pups and even adult sizes should be picked for the job you intend them to do yc.

I have picked 5 pups that have been the smallest in the litter 4 of those being terriers for good reason. And the most recent a Bull/Greyhound that was a left over and I must say she is a great all rounder, totally fearless.
