FightTheBan 1,147
My pal had a black and white greyhound from tipperary in ireland, it was one of the gamest dogs i had seen, would kill literaly anything and was constantly 'switched on', unfortunately it was as brittle as a stick, ended up with a short career. It was used purely for daytime work and wasnt much bigger than a well bred coursing whippet. I wouldnt go there personally, go for a dog bred specifically for purpose, ive yet to see a greyhound that can take the same level of work as a good lurcher. just my opinion though. Wild_and_Irish 11
Surely there's lines of working greyhound the same way there are lines of working whippet that have been bred to be less injury prone. Quote Link to post

samba 534
I THINK A GREYHOUND REARED FROM A PUP AS YOU WOULD A LURCHER WOULD BE OK AND PROBERLY NOT CRASH INTO THINGS AS ONE STRAIGHT OUT OF A RACING KENNEL BUT THE AN AVERAGE PUP IS NOT CHEAP Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
Had an ex tracker and also a greyhound pup, both lamped well enough. were better on foxs and roe then rabbits, injured too easly for my likeing sadly, but very game. Quote Link to post
taffyboi 19
dose any body use a pure breed greyhound for lamping?..if so are they any good?.. i have and yes they are an exciting thing to watch, mainly because they nearly all run in big huge blasts of speed and then miss on the turn... it takes alot of time for them to settle and i had one or 2 smash into fences and things only to cut their careers short... but if you obtained one as a pup and entered it like any lurcher i would say it would be just as good True mate i know sum 1 who had 1 from a pup and brought it up just the same as a lurcher, and fair do's its a realy good all rounder jumps retrives does the lot lol Quote Link to post

the lamping ferreter 160
dose any body use a pure breed greyhound for lamping?..if so are they any good?.. this will be intresting becouse im thinking of getting a ex track bitch about 2 year old that isint quite fast enuff for racing but will be quick enuff for rabbits how tall does she stand, was she distanse or sprint i aint got her yet and i dunna becouse im just thinking about geting a greyhound bitch but i want her to be about 24inches tts but i dont know yet You might as well go for a collie wippet grey if u only want one that big unless your just rescuing an old track bitch that wants a pet home or putting down because of various reasons or have you got a personal reason for wanting a pure grey bit of lamping but mainle breeding Quote Link to post
