jackinbox99 41
Presumably you already have a silencer (also called moderator) on it? If not, you can fit one. The silencer from the hw100 is supposed to be one of the best avaliable, although your looking at about £50 for a new one. On my pcp, it makes a massive difference to the noise. Of course with a underlever or springer, in my experience, you always get a bit more noise from the action. Silencer wise, i presume your hw97k doesnt come with a threaded barrel, so you`d either need to get a slip on silencer, or an adapter. Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
easiest way I found to make mine quieter was to strip it, fit a vmach kit & polish the internals and regrease it with the stuff supplied with the kit Honestly mate it will be the best £70 you will spend on a 97K Darryl Quote Link to post
beggsybluestaff 1
thanks for the info and will the v mach kit take it over the 12ftlb it has the normal moderator on it at present im new to this so every little helps Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
there are compression washers in the kit to adjust the power of it mate, easiest way is to get it chronoed after the kit is fitted. If I remember correctly I had 3 washers in mine and it was a consistant 11.8ftlbs using accupels Darryl Quote Link to post
provarmint 25
I agree with Marksman, I put a Venom kit (now V-Mach) in my 95k, different rifle, smoother shooting, no spring twang. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
The thing with springers is that you can not 'Silence' them, but yes you can make them a damn sight quieter. A Silencer/Moderator on the front makes a massive difference down range, but next to your face, its still just as loud. The reason being is that the action makes a lot of noise. This noise is transfered through the metal of the action and into the wooden stock where you get it nextto your lug hole. A tip I had been given fo my springer was to place some rubber or foam strips between the action and the stock. I tried this and WOW what a difference at the ear Couple this with the Silencer/Moderator and its a hell of a lot better Hope that helps Phantom Quote Link to post
firdom 0
Hi as others have said there is spring noise but just stand 10 paces away and get someone to fire it you will hear how quiet the hw97 is Quote Link to post
