hi all,ive got a problem with my lurcher shes 14 months now and since the cold weather has started to come in shes been pi**ing in the kennel she shares with my terrier.in the kennel ive boarded it out inside and put straw in for warmth and iv just recentley put a heat lamp in,im doing my best to keep them warm and comftable and now im worried the damp in the kennel is going to effect there joints.and it stinks.ive scrubbed it with disinfectant and bleech to stop the smell but when i check the next day shes done it again.there walked every night and all they both do is pee when were out.so why pee in her bed?i didnt think animals did toilets in there bed?!!?im hoping you guys could give a reason for this and a solution?thanks terrierbitch

i will start again :victory: if you havent a roof on your run outside then try partly covering it or cover all of it ....would you go outside in the pissing rain and wind ....and to be honest i dont think a heat lamp will help..

to warm for them at this time of year ...two dogs can keep each other warm..

i never put a heat lamp in mine ...i just have a smaller box inside the kennel ..

with plenty of bedding and when it gets colder i hang a blanket over the entrnce to the box aswell as the main hole to the kennel ...that should be enough to keep any dog warm.....i not saying theres anything wrong a heat lamp...but we havent had any cold weather yet ...it would have to be sub zero for me to consider useing one ...let the dog get its winter coat...or it will be a shivering wreck when your out on a hards night or days graft.....

had this problem with my terrier and the only thing i could do was to make it small

enough to sleep in but not stand up in.Agree with Snoops regarding heatlamps,we are not getting winters severe enough to use them,so i'd reserve their use for injured dogs

or rearing pups,at some point you have to let dogs sleep in cold, their own body heat should be able to cope most hard winters.

well im 99percent sure as my terrier was in the house at first and was house trained, plus the missus has seen the terrier coming out for a slash when shes having a fag at the back door but she rarely ever sees my lurcher come out.
