RicW 67
As some of you know, I am at university at the ripe old age of 61. I was in a uni bar this lunchtime when the subject of RATS came up. Management were getting paranoid about them. Decided to go for poison and traps. After this, a lass working behind the bar told me about her experience with rats. She was working behind another uni bar when a rat ran out. She was wearing her 12 hole DMs so she did what I reckon anyone would do. She stomped on it. Flat rat, blood guts and squashy bits all over the floor. She was hauled up before a disciplinary committee and reprimanded for cruelty to animals. Err? Poison? Traps? Or a size 7DM? Take your pick! PC run wild or just idjits? Nik_B 3,790
To be cruel surely the rat would need to be able to experience pain for more than the split second it took to die.
Rainmaker 7
Disciplinary? If I was them I'd be more worried about the fact they had a rat infestation than the quick means a member of staff chose to get rid of it before it ran through a dining hall full of paying customers. Maybe they were already looking for an excuse to sack her?

RicW 67
Disciplinary? If I was them I'd be more worried about the fact they had a rat infestation than the quick means a member of staff chose to get rid of it before it ran through a dining hall full of paying customers. Maybe they were already looking for an excuse to sack her? Not as far as I could make out. She had just done THE WRONG THING. It is not politically correct to stomp on rats. What annoys me is that it seems to be OK to poison them, trap them or whatever but you must NOT STOMP ON THEM. Which is the more merciful death? Warfarin eating your guts out or a Size 7DM stomp? Bah. Humbug. Ric
Rainmaker 7
I agree mate. It's like the antis giving us a hard time for letting our horrid dogs "rip the poor little animals (rats) to pieces". 99.9% of them will happily lay poison and/or traps when they find one in their child's bedroom or the kitchen, though! rob.i 26
Those who are complaining should be put in a room with a rat for a while .Fair play to the lass my Mrs would have screamed the place down

Ric I have a real issue with poison. You might be aware that leics has a poor record when it comes to the illegal poisoning of raptors? Suely this could be as a result of poisoned rats? During the shooting season, paths near us often have signs up saying keep your dogs on leads as rat poison has been put down. It could be just scare tactics, but the thought of my dog, who'd eat anything, dying a long and painful death because of a poisoned rat is enough for me to avoid the area. Poison gets in the food chain and does more damage than people know. So a size 7 DM for me everytime..........quite like the idea of a girl in DM stomping rats! rgds Swampy toxicning
Rainmaker 7
.....quite like the idea of a girl in DM stomping rats! Kinky bugger On the topic of poisons, has anyone seen/used Eradibait? It's lethal to rats and mice, impossible for them to become immune to, and harmless to all other species (including people). Basically mice and rats can't vomit, and Eradibait is like super-concentrated cat litter... They eat it, and it starts to draw moisture out of them, and swell... Since they can't vomit it back up, it ends up drying them inside out. Not nice I suppose, but no worse than slowly bleeding to death internally. Also handy in that it's targeted and resistance-proof.
