baldockbanks courser 598 Posted November 23, 2009 Report Share Posted November 23, 2009 can anyone tell me the exact laws on barking dogs please? iv had a letter from the council. i own 5 saluki lurchers a fell terrier and an american bulldog all in kennel block with bulldog running round the kennels. when one dog starts to howl they all start apart from the bulldog. im prity hard on them and they soon stop if they think im coming down the garden! but its when im out they take the piss. has anyone had problems with grassing neighbors like me. and are electric collars an answer. i dont want to get reed of my dogs but i dont fancy a 5k fine. To have a neighbour who's dogs bark endlessly when he's out is bloody frustrating because there is nothing you can do other than wait until he gets home. Some how other peoples barking dogs do grate on you more than your own. Electric collars will be a few bob mate, i wonder if there is such a thing as a noise activated hose pipe? Don't even need a solicitor, speak to clerk of the justices to arrange to have a summons issued. shepp 2,285 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 There is nothing to say that there could be half a dozen neighbours joined up to make a complaint, it happened when one of my neighbours thought it was fine to let there dog bark from morning to night. The word society means people living together with consideration for there neighbours, my dogs and others neighbours dogs bark occasionally that is fine but when it goes on for hours then it is'nt fair. Most people realise this but a few don't have the intellegence or are just plain ignorant, unfortunately then the only option is the law. I would say it is the same mentality as people who cut down barbed wire when hunting and fly tip. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Your neighbour if he has evidenced the howling and noted the times, then the council will put sound moderators out to hear if the howling consitutes a breach of someones peace. The neighbour like someone has mentioned already can very easily bring the case to a magistrates. If you lose, then you can appeal, but in the mean time your dogs would have to go. Electric collars on 5 dogs is a receipe for disaster, another dogs bark, howl will set off another dogs collar. What you will have espeacially with heavy blooded suluki crosses will be 5 nervous wrecks! Talk to your neighbour and see what you can come up with.
