masmiffy 82
Good luck mate I dont think reasonable quotes are available fro 17 year olds let alone cheap! Bit different for 17 year old lasses tho, insurance is sexist like that! I had my daughter on mine with Direct Line good thing was she got no claims added to her name even tho she was on my policy as a named driver!! While I think about it just renewed my bike insurance on compare the market. quotes ranged from 67 - 345!! Edited November 22, 2009 by masmiffy
ratattack 111
Best of luck! Elephant are pretty good but try searching for specialist insurers for younger drivers, dont expect anything for less than a grand tho!
tomandroz 0
Hi, I had to shop around for a friend who had just passed his test recently, and was shocked at the cost of young peoples insurance! makes me glad I am now into my 30's! I found the cheapest quotes and a reasonably comprehensive cover with 'morethan'. All the best getting it sorted, Tom

Nik_B 3,790
You could look into getting him a car that is technically a classic/vintage. A VW Bettle for example is tax exempt before 1972 and he should get classic insurance for cheep. plenty of other motors around that will fit this category. Bit of a strage first post

Even when there the worst drivers Matter of opinion mate. Insurance companies look at 17 year old lads as the worst case, boy racer syndrome. Girls just less of a liability in their eyes.. I have aways believed that there should be a restriction on engine size / output for a period of 3 years after passing the test.
