Nice scope, the AO feature is absolutely essential for airguns as most fixed objective scopes are set at 100yards. I have the Gold Crown 3-9x42 scope which is great. The Nikko Sterling range are superb value for money.

 

To answer your question, no, you don't need to re-zero.

 

Some people mention they can range find using the AO feature, but I could never manage it. I just keep resetting the magnification back to 4x and I'm used to scaling things

In theory, its quite simple.

 

Just look at your target, e.g. rabbit, then adjust the AO dial on your scope until the rabbit is perfectly in focus. Then, read what you've just set the AO adjustment to on the scope dial.

 

Its easy in theory, harder in practice! I think it might not work so well on cheaper scopes as I have a fairly expensive set of binoculars which can be set to be pin-point focus on something at 30 yards, but a bit fuzzy at 25 or 35 yards. However, there is no gauge on the binoculars!
