Dog wont pick up.

My black Labrador bitch is 2 and a bit years old and due to my being away hasn't had any training apart form basic obedience and she has been taught not to chase my chickens. She always ignores them completely. I have taken her beating a few times recently and tried to get her to pick up shot game after drives but she wont pick up shot pheasants or partridge. I think she thinks they are chickens and that shes not to touch them? Do you think this is the problem? What can I do about it?

There is a technique called force fetch.

It is a programme of training which converts a dog from being self employed into being a servant obeying your commands.

There are a number of stages to follow each building on the previous one.

It is not cruel if handled sensibly and sensitively.

Watch these videos to get an idea . Firstly they condition the dog to accept something in the mouth and hold it until told to release. Its a bit like circus training.
