iceman001979 1,316
Normally the people who comment about a luchers weight is some who as never had one or seen one and the same person as a big fat pet dog that lies at the fire place and gets a walk to shop in the morning and at night. When do you every see a fat person win a sprint or marathon Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
There is a massive difference between a thin lurcher, one that is underweight and lacking in condition, and one which is lean AND fit: trimmed down, albeit with plenty of muscle (the type of muscle depends on the breeds within the dog: big bulging muscles in greyhoundy dogs and those with bull in, and leaner, more streamlined muscles in Saluki types). Photos can be very misleading especially to the novice eye and dogs usually look fatter/heavier in photos than in real life. I can't see the photo of the very thin dog: has he taken it off ? So can't comment on that. Quote Link to post
Irish Lurcher 1,013
Agree with you 100% skycat, there is nothing better than a dog in shape.. Edited November 25, 2011 by Irish Lurcher Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
she looks fine to me mate, i have a collie x that would put on weight passing by a butchers and a deerhound x that could eat for scotland and keep her figure. truth is different x's have varying builds and metabolism's i wouldn't worry about the guy at all Quote Link to post
oddser 79
they are too thin when you can shave with em as its been said they are all diffrent apart from grews whippets greys once you put anything else in the breed you get all shapes sizes Quote Link to post

BrianSteven72 369
im often told my dogs are too thin but always by people that dont know what they are talking about and there pet dogs are always too fat , when they are a bit heavy they maybe look better but they dont run worth a fcuk Quote Link to post
david brightmore 13
all depends on the breed of the dog all dogs are different shapes and sizes and some have more muscle mass than others at the end of the day i think its your own preference on what weight suits your dog and how it performs 1 Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
If you cant tell if you dog is well under weight then you need to have look if you should be keeping running dogs in the 1st place. There is a big difference in a fit dog and a thin dog Quote Link to post
