heppi1234 0
Hi i finally got my first gun after months of shooting with other peoples. I decided to get a umerex 850 airmagnum, is this a good choice? since it is a co2 powered air rifle it will cost me on catridges, is there a cheaper way to power it i.e. refillable ones or using the 12g adapter? i didnt know if the 12 g cartridges are refillable, or if 88g ones are refillable? also i wanted to get a bipod for it, i've made a temporary one at work just to perch on whilst out this weekend. does anyone know if there are simple detachable ones you can buy rather than getting the stock studded to fit, say for instance, the harris bipod? Any advice anyone can give me on this or other things to do with improving and looking after my gun would be helpfull, particularly anyone who owns a umarex 850 and knows which pellets are best for hunting with. Hope to hear from some of you soon!!! Quote Link to post

Geoff.C 0
I know nothing about your new gun either! Sorry. I do have a mate with a rifle that takes CO2 powerlets, two at a time. I can't recall it's make, but he gets CO2 in bulk off E-bay. Buying about 20 at a time brings the price down. They are not refillable, use and dispose. Quote Link to post
bedrock 16
Hello mate. You cant refill the co2 cartridges. If you bought the deluxe model you would have already had a bipod fitted. but Im not sure how you would fit one now and I’m not sure about drilling into a synthetic stock. Did you know that a co2 gun looses power in low temperatures and that can affect your zero. I personally would not use a co2 rifle for hunting but as long as your happy with it. atb bedrock Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Hi, mate. Co2's cool (no punn!!) so long as it's not too cold outside. If it's over 5'c outside, you'll be ok. I use a King Ratty (sometimes) that use's the same 88g powerlets as the 850 and have no problems in the main. If it is really cold though, think again. One second they're fine, the next, they're not.. Best not risk it. As has been said, you can't re-fil them, but if you Google (or whatever...) you can find folks who do kits for Co2 guns but they cost a feckin' fortune and they're really is no point. Cheers and good luck! Quote Link to post
rokiller 0
alrighty. i own the magnum j r ramsbottom ebay shop seem to be 1 of cheapest for gas i by 5 at a time yes cold weather hampers them a bit i found by putting on a mil dot scope it helps when gas is running low as you can see which dot it lands on and adjust your aim saves rezeroing Quote Link to post
