zini 1,939
Hi guys, I managed to get half hours shooting today before work started. This rook was feeling quite brave sitting at about 30 metres. There was a huge wind from left to right which required 2 mil dots right hand side to ensure a perfect brain shot. I captured the shot on video camera, and it has been added to my DVD. Here is the link to the footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g-BBGAFNtk I also was lucky enough to acquired another 660 aches of permission yesterday 25 minutes from my home. It belongs to an old man who is the father to my boss. He doesnt farm on it as far as I know but tells me that the land is over run with bunnies. I tells me that there is a massive warren that can be ferreted easily too if I want. I have to go and recce it tomorrow with my boss and be introduced to his father. Its somewhere for Festa, Reggaeman, Wuzzy and Marksman to come too the next time we have a meet. He wants loads of foxes shooting too but that will mean getting the bigger guns up. zini 1,939
Hi guys thanks for all the kind comments about the shooting. Yes Gary, Ive been really busy mate. I was in York one weekend and then London all last week with my work. If the weather behaves itself I hopefully will get some shooting in this weekend and some more good footage for the DVD. Its almost finished now. In regards to other questions, I keep my camera still by static hunting most of the time friend. I spend time looking at a area where the quarry congregate and then set up on a tripod and wait for the animal to show up. I also have made a bracket that fits on my car window which attaches to my tripod and camera. I then drive around my permission and stop at a good range where the quarry thinks its safe and then hit them from there. Most of the shots, but not all of them from the car that I have filmed are anything from 30 metres out to 55 metres with a shot from my garden at 57 lased metres. Rooks are the easiest to shoot as they think that they are safe at 30 metres. Crows need about 35 45 metres on the ground and magpies are just sneaky buggers and you really need to move slowly even at 40 metres when sitting in the car.
