merle24 61
I DON'T RUN MINE AFTER THE 14TH DAY OF BEEN IN SEASON,BUT LIKE SOMEONE SAID ON A SIMILAR THREAD ABOUT BITCHES BEEN IN SEASON IT DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL BITCH EVERY BITCH IS DIFFERENT,WHAT I FIND IS THROUGH THE HORMONAL CHANGE THE ABDOMINAL MUSCLES AND INNER STOMACH MUSCLES RELAX IN OTHER WORDS NATURES WAY OF PREPAIRING THE BODY FOR CONCEPTION THEN BIRTH,SO FOR A RUNNING DOG THIS COULD EFFECT PERFORMANCE ANYTIME WITHIN THE SEASON/HEAT AND THEN UPTO 4 TO 6 WEEKS AFTER DEPENDING ON THE INDIVIDUAL ANIMAL,HENCE THE WORD 'HITTING A FLAT SPOT'BUT ALOT OF RABBITING PEOPLE MIGHT NOT SEE THE DIFFERENCE ON THERE BITCHES PERFORMANCE BECAUSE OF THE SHORT BURSTS ON THERE CHOSEN QUARRY,BUT WITH COURSING DOGS YOU CAN MAYBE SEE THE DIFFERENCE MORE THAN A RABBITING DOG BECAUSE OF LENGTHS OF THE RUNS/COURSES WHEN ENDURANCE AND STAMINA COME IN AND ARE MORE LIKELY TO SEE THERE BITCHES HITTING A 'FLAT SPOT'BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. shannon1970 0
only time not to run them is when there in milk around 9/10 wk out of season, and first 3wk although they will be slower till around 16/17 wks, Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
Doesn't make a blind bit of difference if you run the bitch when its in season .....its a pain in the ass though if you lamp with others and they have dogs Quote Link to post
craigheff 12
the greyhound trainers dont race them when in heat because when they are in heat they would have other things on there minds and wouldnt be concentrating on racing because of been raced with other dogs but if your not lamping with a dog id say you should be fine ATB CRAIG Edited December 10, 2009 by craigheff Quote Link to post
