over here in oz we just use them to hunt rabbits in there warrens ,,most of the time the will hunt naturally ,,but some are better then others ,,ive had some that will just sleep and some that will work a warren fantastically ,,,jas

we use ferrets for rabbiting and ratting here in ireland some make the grade and others dont

what we do in the uk is to put the ferret in to the warren and let it force the rabbits to exit the warren and get tangled in purse nets which are placed over the holes (or bolted to waiting guns or dogs). ferets are using their natural prey drive to do this and do not need trained

We dont teach them but its better if you have kitts from worker to worker breeding even then some dont make the grade

i would think so we are aloud to use bird of prey(hawk) to hunt with so i dont see why not

rabbits are classed as pests over here, so it is a worthwhile quarry, had heard that bout americans, always want better and bigger

Check your local/state bylaws, as I am pretty sure it's illegal to hunt with ferrets in the usa too. I'm under the impression too, that in some areas you can't even keep them as pets, or need licenses etc, due to some people in power thinking they are dangerous. Not everywhere but in some areas at least, but I could be wrong.
