Malt 379
Is there a way to prevent photos being copied? I know it's impossible to copy pictures of some of the newspapers websites.
chartpolski 23,149
Mally has taken hundreds of photo's of my dogs, and I've posted them on many forums, with pride, as they are so good. Then one day I was browsing e-bay, and there was a pic of my bitch adorning everything from mouse mats to teapots !!! I told Mally and he contacted e-bay and the vendor and had them removed. Another time, a magazine dropped through my door, and there was a pic of my dog advertising a Game Fair, in a country I have never even visited !! The images had obviously been lifted from forums on the internet.....It's not on !! It is his livelyhood, he is a professional photographer and I know he has spent a lot of money on equipment and works hard at what he does. But this latest thing; taking an image and claiming it is your dog, and having it on the same site as you lifted it from, is taking the piss !!! Cheers.

Your right its not on , why should someone else take the credit for your hard work , sadly other than posting tiny thumnail sized pics on forums i think even watermarks can be removed with the right software Theres a member on here who stumbled across a rabbit control website only to find his photos he had posted on here were being used on it , its a dam cheek

It's only the same as, say, cutting a picture out of a magazine and keeping it, for the same reason. I don't think many photographers would object to that, and most would be pleased that their shot had such an impact. When it becomes wrong is if you try and pass off the shot as your own for whatever reasons, either posting it elsewhere or selling it on for commercial gain. That's when it all gets a bit shady. Just my opinion, mind!
