Its very variable mate, the fitter they are and the leaner they are (i.e. low body fat) the more infrequently they come into season, a lot of track bitches only come into season when they are laid up through injury and their fitness drops and I have had bitches go several years between seasons

Do you have to stop working them when they are in heat? It seems a shame to let their fitnes drop

Witton the only thing you do differently is keep them under lock and key when your not there.Mistakes(accidental mating etc.)happen so easily.So keeping to their usual routine is ok just avoid male dog contact at ALL times
