johnmac666 2
If you want to get the clem(weight) of your ferts get them off the dry food.Fresh whole rabbit all the way this time of year for mine.I will give them dry food in the summer but not every day i find they'll gorge on it & the hobs pile the clem on.For me dry food for ferts is like Mcdonalds, tastes good, morish but not good on the waistline ah right, I didn't realise dried food makes them fat...i'll have to stock up on the rabbits to feed em! It's down to the induvidual animals metabolism Rob much like us.I could feed 1 of my jills on dry 24/7 & she would'nt put much on,the other 2 would end up like barrels .The larger of my hobs would be like Mr Creosote "it's just a wafer thin mint!!" if i kept him on dry 24/7 lol my hob is due to spontaniously conbust due to eating one more waifer thin mint fur & feather is on the menu until warm weather comes, i am working them more, so hopefully he will slim down when he moults & gets more exercise Quote Link to post
andyrose 8
not only did we feed them differently i used to aways carry them around in a bag tied with string at the top none of these fancy boxes we have now. yeah, we used to have a homemade box for our permission, and a money bag with cord around the top, for when we were where we should'nt, half a dozen nets in one pocket and ferret in a bag in the other pocket lol Quote Link to post
j davies 8
Same thing's happened to kids. Years ago they worked up chimneys and down mines, and were fed gravel and sump water. They were fit as fleas. Now, they sit around with computers and games consoles, eat MacD's and crisps, and are as fat as a house side. yes you are right its not the breed or what you feed them its what you do with them the old days they were out 3 or 4 times a week now its one or two only and we take more ferrets to so they dont work as hard Quote Link to post
