fazza123 516
Has any one got alot of experience with this breed of dog please? Are they naterally protective and do they make good family pets? Any information would be much appreciated!!! Cheers Kris
Back Stabbath 1
They are naturally protective. Can be a great family dog in the right hands (not implying they are aggressive which they should not be) but can be very energetic, need lots of stimulation and excersise, and often have quite a high drive. They are also very very intelligent. If you are expecting one to be like the average show bred German Shepherd who is happy to lay about on the couch and do the odd bit of playing, be prepared for a shock. They will get very bored and destructive if they don't get lots of exersise and things to do. Most Malinois are from working lines, which is great in terms of health and for schutzhund, but it means there isn't an "easy" pet/show line option like there is for GSD's. For more info I highly recommend leerburg.com. The guy that runs the site specialises in Malinois and working line GSD's, he's a very very good trainer. Good luck!!
