English Steve 0
I have a 3-9x50 Hawke, but rarely use it on anything other than 6. If I was buying now I would probably go fixed. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
As someone else brought it up a word on the Whitetail Classic. The 3.5-10x50 is one of the best value for money and build quality scopes I have ever owned. It is factory parallax set at 100 yards and is great, I only sold mine because my eyes are going and I need variable parallax adjustment (I know ..but it works for me) Mine was the best part of 10 years old when I sold it and as good as new in every respect..if you can find one it's certainly worth a look, one of the all time "classic" scopes!!! Effortless 0
Zooms are for yanks. Stick to a 6x42 or 8x56. Nearly everyone who has a zoom ends up leaving it at 6x. A constant magnification makes range estimation much easier (esp if you're using subs with a trajectory of a rainbow), zooms are expensive as there are so many more bits of glass in them (known as elements), and all those bits of glass reduce light transmission. They are also heavier. I have a Hawke 6x42 and I'm delighted with it. Effortless. Quote Link to post
