mikeyboy 7
feed them loads now but dont exercise too much its no good for them to young Quote Link to post
Cochyn 0
Personally - I'd take it slowly. I wouldn't want to put too much stress on a dog's frame when it's not fully developed. Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
Personally I wouldn't start pushing the dog until it's around 18 months. I've seen good dogs ruined by starting too young, it usually damages ligaments. Start working at about 12 months but not too much and don't bother trying to 'bulk him up', just feed properly and give the right amount of exercise. Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
A lot depends on the size and breeding of the dog but I personally wouldn't start biking until the skeleton has finished growing: about 12 months in smaller lurchers and up to 18 months in bigger dogs. Its not a good idea to try and put loads of muscle on to an immature frame: joints, bones and tendons all need to be adult size before loading with muscle. Quote Link to post
MissRhianL 70
its not about bulking them up its about giving them good stuff and i wouldn run a dog hard till its 16 to 18 months but thats just my opinion atb Quote Link to post
