kermet 0
Hi guys, My hob started to show signs of what I thought was foot rot but after treating the feet with little success I am now thinking he may have miters as he has sores on his head and neck. Most people I have spoke to have said it is easily fixed with ivomec but I also have a pregnant doe anf was wondering if it is safe to treat her aswell. Thanks Craig Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Foot rots usually caused by them living in shitty conditions so as long as the cages kept clean it shouldnt be an issue Quote Link to post

theferreter 311
sorry 2 say this but your ferrets must be living in dirty conditions if u think it has foot rot and mites not good if you have kits on the way Quote Link to post
kermet 0
I took them to the vet today and he said the hob has scabies which was more than likely caught from a rabbit or in a warren. This has caused the feet to swell, not foot rot. The Jill seems fine but he gave me some meds to treat them both and some stuff to put on them once a month to prevent them from catching mites mange etc from the rabbits. Quote Link to post

polecat93 4
me to , if the jill is outside and has the kits you have potentially got a problem because it will be freezing and theres a chance they could die, they are born without fur and will be frozed, but if you put plenty of bedding in there may be a chance but the best bet in the winter is to put them indoors like a shed or house.
