information on working bedlington terriers

Recommended Posts

I have one from Rillington lines, great little bitch, works any cover. She retreives naturaly having never been taught, loves retreiving from water.

I only use her for rabbiting.

She is quite sensible and bright for a terrier but when on a scent she sometimes looses the ability to hear me.

I think they have the best nose of any terrier but definately not the best coat.

Good little dogs to have around, i would get another.

The saying wolf in sheeps clothing was made for the beddy, they are the dogs for ratting and many other things fantastic nose speed determination the most impressive thing is their strike, like a cobra, mine is in her second season now and I look at her sometimes and think where the f k did that come from.

Would a % of another breed improve the quality of the coat with out dulling the pros of the bedy. I would only want a worker to worker bred dog. I only want the dog for ratting would height make a difference. Thank you all for your help & advice.

I think out crossing to a border is a good choice because they share a common ancestry and are both sensible types.

Mine reminds me of droopy from the cartoon, looks dopey then suddenly bursts into life. I think they have a lot of potential in the right hands, mine takes a bit of a back seat, don't expect much of her just working cover while my lurcher gets the training.

Well with my bitch she stands back and weighs up situations instead of like some terriers flying in and thinking about it after.

She does as she's told, does'nt pull on the lead and is not one for fighting but will stick up for herself if she has to.

She's not very yappy and when i take her out she will sit quietly on my passenger seat.

Saying all that she is constantly on the go when there are rabbits about.

I like her character because i am a running dog fan first and the beddy i think is about closest in temperament to a running dog.

Others prefer the high octane, all action working of the plummers and russells but then variety is the spice of life.
