how do you prefer yours

along with being well trained how do you prefer your dogs? lean ie slim and leggy and racey, meam ie medium built average hieight and just enough aggression and speed to get a job done,wreaking machine ie around 27tts quite stocky will run through a brick wall to catch its quarry and wreck anything it takes hold of,or do you look for something else?

mean. something that will run the rabbit and fly into the hedge after it if need be to get it quarry something round 25inches is plenty for me

i got my self a wee 10 week old pup hoping it turn out like the "mean" lot, enough drive to go straight in to hedge after it

My bitch is 23" and slim. So i guess she's "lean" but she will also run through any hedge or cover to get to what she's chasing and retrieves live to hand so she's definatly not a "wrecking machine"

started off with a saluxi cross when i was younger and he did the job i wanted bach then. then progressed on to the bullx's pickin up a pup soon half x hopefully a wrecking machine. but a do like a racy fast dog for certain quarry. all depends on what your hunting atb jamie

dont like a dog that wreaks hedges after rabbits as it is only a rabbit and there is plent more in the country your dog will be more in injured that out working if it flys in hedges like a head case but dont get me wrong during the day l expected my dog 2 go thought or over fences but that was on long ears and charlies .

is it possible to have a dog thats hard on charlie, but soft mouthed on rabbits, my dog is a beddy greyhound and does'nt bruise the rabbits but if he has a go on a charlie would it make him to hard in the mouth?

no my mate has a dog carrys back alive but is hard as nails on charlies dogs are not thick they know that the big red 1 bits back its just like going out ferrting the dog knows when the ferret goes down things come out off the holes and when the lamp gets put on there is something at the end off the beam.When my old dog heard the fox caller his heart would beat so fast u could hear it as clear has day

think it depends on the dog mate,one of my old bitches would retrieve bunnies live to hand,once she got the taste for charlie she would crunch everthing after that,another dog of mine would retrieve live aswell untill she got tired and prob fed up being kicked in the face so she would start killing them towards the end of the night so as i say all depends, no hard and fast rule atvb rob

lads if your going to have a big dog 27 28 inchs and well built why would you be using it on rabbits .....my kind of dog would be round 27 28 inchs well built and that wouldnt back of anything.not acting hard just my type of hound
