dicehorn 38
the 22-250 and above are "real" fox calibers and should be stuck to where possible. Why 22-250 and above? the hornet, .222, .223 are more than adequate fox calibres. Rick. Agree. but I think Langouroux was in reality referring to .22 centre fire rifles. Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Totally agree with the coments from experienced fox shooters, yes the hmr will kill foxes at sensible range, but its no cannon,Ishoot most of my foxes with .22 hornet that is roughly 3-4 times more powerfull than a hmr,but its still got its limitations,if they are likely to be 200yds plus out comes the .243 58 grain vmax now thats awesome on foxes,my feo would have a fit if you told him you were shooting foxes with hmr its a bunny gun/crows ect,by all means shoot the odd one when the chance presents itself, but targetting foxes full time with a tiny 17 grain bullet is asking for trouble, add a bit of breeze and your tiny bullet will drift LOADS and off runs a wounded fox, take the advice mate its well meant. good hunting CHARLIE CALLER.
