R0G3R 11
Hi, I am new on this forum and this is my first post. I have a question. I have bought myself the Hatsan Mod 135 and i will be getting it tomorrow. I bought it because it was well priced and advertised at 1200 fps. My question: Is it a good rifle for pest control? (Mice, birds, rats) Thanks, Roger! Quote Link to post

R0G3R 11
Hi guys, thanks for the replies. In South Africa they limit us to caliber and not power. We can buy .177 (4.5) & .20 (5.0) without a license. But from .22 (5.5) and bigger you require a license and you WILL get into alot of trouble if you are caught with one of these without a license. This Hatsan Mod 135 is .177 (4.5) at 1200 fps. Im looking at doing some pest control and a little hunting. As I said rats, mice, birds, rabbits, etc. Anything I can kill with a single shot. I dont want to do any in-humane hunting. Thanks, Roger! Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Using a 7 grain pellet that works out at about 25ish ft/lbs I seem to remember the Gamo hunter being advertised in .177 at producing the same velocity with the Gamo PBA pellets They demonstrated how effective they were by shooting Wild Boar and BobCats in the noggin with instant kills Wonder how well they would perform in a Sub 12 Phantom Edited November 16, 2009 by Phantom Quote Link to post
maty j 6
That's sub sonic so I don't know what the groups will look like. Powers nothing without accuracy remember Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
So I got the rifle yesterday. I didnt set in the scope, left it as it. Didnt have time. Took it out and shot a pigeon at 20m on a telephone line. I shot him in the back (sounds bad ) but he dropped down immediately. Unfortunately into the neighbours yard . I will take the gun to the field this weekend and set it in properly. Its bulky and heavy, but then again, so am I Roger! Quote Link to post

Here any perso whith 18 years old can buy any air rifle whith caliber 0.22 (5.5) no limits to power. Unfortunately, the hunt is forbidden but, ever have some exceptions like superpopulation of woodpigeon and turk-pigeon (here we callerd carijó-pigeon). Interest know that some countrys use limits in air guns power. Do sense... Quote Link to post
crow48 0
Hey R0G3R It sounds like a good one. I have found that a heavy pellet work the best in my magnum air rifles. Good luck, and kept us posted crow48 Edited December 19, 2009 by crow48 Quote Link to post
