oxo 455
Rabbits under 75 yards .22 rimfire, over 75 yards .17 HMR. Fox take your pick but make it a centrefire, .22 Hornet, .222, .223 etc Quote Link to post
chi 0
Going off my form i would put in for a 22 rim fire bolt action with 22 moderator dont forget the mod hope this helps Quote Link to post

AzMaN 0
definatly .22, and maybe a 223 or 22-250 for the fox? if they will grant you centerfire on first application that is. oh and i agree with the others must put moderators on the list, makes the .22 virtualy silent with subsonic ammo. Airborne9 4
Hi mate Still in the process of doing mine, had a phone conversation with my FEO the other day and he informs me that they will aprove 17 HMR for fox (Warwickshire) And to also to put down .222/.223 then youve got the choise of both. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
i dont think your get 243 right away and unlikely get a centrefire right away. some people do others dont. wait a couple of months and apply again if you dont. i would get 22lr and 223 if it was me Quote Link to post
MrYou 0
A cheep bunny basher is a 22 bolt or semi-auto rimmy, @ £40 per 500 shots, not much use at over 50yds to be honest, they will shoot more distance but the kill impact is useless, over 100yds. Vermin control best is the 22 Hornet, for 25-200yds, a heavier head than the 17 @ 30-45gr you can bash anything, bunny, fox , cheep to reload & a suoerb round. fox & small deer 223, good to 300yds+ accurate , relativly cheep to load. when applying put at least 5 guns down, it makes them feel good about taking one off ya, so 4 will suffice,, Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
22lr is good up to 100 yards once you no the hold over. and has more then enough power still left. its more about placement at that range. 75 to yards is about the best tho Quote Link to post
The Seeker 3,048
Do you know what the land you have got permission on is passed up to?, .22 rim fire is a definite but as for a centre fire I suppose it depends if its will get passed for this. My mate shoots a 22 hornet and its a cracking piece of kit. Good luck Quote Link to post
