bullmastiff 615
Well finally managed to find 5 mins to myself last night between my daughter teething (4 teeth at once!! ) the missus being ill, my old spanials ear infection and the bully eating a nappy whole! I haven't been able to get out with the new gun for a mooch at all. So finally I got out to the fields, probably the worst night to go, the wind was cold and swirling around, it was a full moon with not a cloud in the night sky but hey beggers can't be choosers! while miles of walking in the fresh air is enjoyable I not here for the exercise and I haven't seen a sausage (probably saw me from miles off) then just as I was going to call it quits and climbing the stile to go home an eye shines out from behind a thistle in the field. I guessed it about 30-35yds away perched on top of the still, now I don't know how many of you use prechaged airguns but the beauty of it is you can see the pellet whip away from you. I take a shot which hits a couple of feet below the rabbit which ducks down but stays put, aimed just over an inch over its head then a thunk as the pellet connects with bone!!! paced out at 42 long strides I think I need to practice my rangeing again at night. All's right with the world again I'm no longer the hen pecked hubby up to his elbows in shit and dog vomit  but back in his rightfull place as hunter gatherer!!!! it's seemed so long since I'd managed to get out and shoot at anything, I'd forgotten the thrill of the cold air in your lungs and the dry mouth and throat as you stalk about fields late at night whilst everyone else is oblivious to the world outside tucked up watching some late night medi-drama crap on telly. Long live the newly christened airgun and all the nights to come. Quote Link to post
