SEAN3513 7
unlikely ???? which part of the country did you see it ??? red squirrels are smaller than greys, have bushier tails and tufted ears, some greys have a redish tinge but reds are usually red. atb sean Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Some grey's are reddy coloured in places, as Sean has just stated. Quote Link to post

chriso 3
This one was local to me in Cumbria. It's tail was bushy and redish and it's head looked quite red but it's body was all grey and looked as if it had been shaved - the hair was a lot shorter. It was quite small and looked physically like a red. I don't have permission in the area and did not have my rifle but could have been tempted to shoot if i did. I wish i had took my camera as it hung around for quite a while chewing on an acorn. Edited November 16, 2009 by chriso Quote Link to post
events co-ordinator 353
Tempted to shoot what you cant positively identify easiest way to lose your rifle. If you ask the question what is it you cant/ shouldnt shoot it.remember its very difficult to unshoot something. Quote Link to post
chriso 3
Well I've done quite a bit of searching images this morning and I'm now pretty sure it was a grey. Do you think the Forestry Commision would give permission to shoot in one of their woods? Quote Link to post
sibaldib 6
I've noticed a lot of the squirrels round us have a reddish tinge sometimes. However I'm old enough to remember red squirrels in our garden when I was a kid and there is no comparison. Maybe the light catches them in a certain way as it always seems to be in the evening when I see the ones with a reddish tint? Cheers Sib Quote Link to post
