othickman 6
Yeah but nonetheless! I mean, sure, he should have phoned 999 because it was a sawn-off shotgun and got it removed immediately, but still! The guy even had credibility being an ex soldier and all! Geoff.C 0
This should be a warning to everyone. Anything (gun like) found, should be just reported, and left where it lies. It seems the law makes no allowances, and he did actually leave it until the next day, before reporting it. So technically, he was "in possession"and without a license. Really tough the way it turned out for him, I hope he appeals successfully.

JohnGalway 1,043
The specific law where just because he has it in his possession is dumb, that's a given. (Here it comes) But, 1) There just has to be more to this story than what was reported, has to be. 2) He kept it overnight. What the f**k? Oh look, an obviously illegal shotgun which may have been used in a crime, or there may well be some unsavoury types coming back for it later. Well, I'm off to watch X-Factor then let the cat out... Come on people. Would anyone with an ounce of sanity keep it over night? The Police are not a 9-5 outfit. 3) He rings the Police the next day, can I pop in and see the Chief Supernintendo please? The report doesn't say he tells them what it's in relation to. Then he goes to a Police station, pulls out a sawn off shotgun in a Chief Supernintendo's office and lays it on the table, I would imagine the CS got a hell of a fright. I think they charged him for the wrong thing, if the reported story is correct in it's details, he should have been taken into care as a possible danger to himself because he seems to be a common sense free zone. trapperman 474
speaking of common sence if the same guy mugged a granny or burgled a house, he would get just a slap on the wrist, i dont know the whole story on this but i think the law could do with more common sence.
