wont work sets

i got a ferret a few months back that was 3 months at the time now its six months or so and wont work sets properly it just goes in 1 hole and out another. then i try it in another hole and it just comes out a nother 1 its not working the sets at all. i put it in a 3 holer and it bolted nothing so we put another ferret in and it bolted 2. some 1 told me to put it down behind another ferret would this help it get the idea ov working the warrens??

Keep putting it down mate,once it gets hold of one it will start working properly.

keep trying he will get ther in the end. And try puting him down with another ferret that will help him find hes way.

Curious to know what you are feeding your ferret on mate and is he,she a bit on the plump side.?

I have to agree there stubby...although alot of ferrets do work quite well in their first year all of the ferrets i have ever owned(and that is a lot over the years i can assure you)work better and are more methodical in their second year.

stick with em mate they will get their in the end.At least if they are coming out of different holes that you have entered them into they are trying and thats all you can ask from a youngster

i do not evan take mine out first year leave them untill the next find it works good for me they like kids need time to play or the first one and ones mature look out rabbits its all about time.

Skeletally a ferret is fully grown at 18weeks, about the same as a youth would be in human terms . as for keeping them back till they're 18month to start working them(2nd season)thats your choice but how long do stoat,weasels or polecats in the wild stay dependant on their parents before they're rejected to fend for themselves? kitts would be lucky to still be with their parents at 6month in the wild

i always start my young ferrets with there mother if they are born in june september end of october realy ,a few little tries see whats going on they have had afew rabbits to eat by then , as they live on rabbits ,if they dont work give them a try most llove it and get wound up on the fresh rabbits in a bury especaily if mamas sinking her teeth and its warm blood lol the thrill all in the kill for them when ive been over stocked left them late as couldnt be botherd f*****g about with them but they are out and about before the end of there first season for sure

it gets fed well mate but no its not fat at all.

Try it with another ferret mate see if it gets any better and i would still check every burrow after it for its first season to see how its working ,but you have to be hard its not every ferret that makes the grade

yes you are right there mate but how many of them are born in a shed and have food every day none. with our ferrets they have food giving them all the time in the wild they have to hunt or die
