Deker 3,478
thanks to everyone that has replied and congratulated me. best i get to sportsman gun centre and put a deposit on something for the new year. cheers and happy hunting. ATB....just be careful you get what you want, what fits and what suits! Sportsman "can" sometimes be a little bit intimidating with them trying to sell you what they have! Quote Link to post

MrYou 0
Why does everyone insist on using .308 for deer in most situations its totally overkill, a horible calibre to shoot and drops like a stone! If u really want to throw a heavy bullet around why not go for something like a 25-06. Roe deer and munjac etc certainly dont need a .308 for a clean kill people shouldnt compensate for their bad shooting by using a massive round that they only have to put in the middle of the big brown bit and pull the trigger. 243 or 308 or what ever, even 270 cal..i used them all in my 30yrs experience, & what i shoot varies. I needed a small deer cal, a large deer cal & a good clean kill, & less meat damage the better, I opted for a 6.5 swede cal, after using & seeing it as a favorite cal with hunters all over the world. It solved the problem of cabinet space too. 1 rifle many uses. Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
Congratulations mate! as you know, what I know about rifles you could put on a stamp, so as long as it put a hole in the correct spot on a deer then jobs a good'un! Hope your both keeping well. All the best Luke. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Congrats Langouroux A 308 will be fine for anything you need to do. It's not nasty to shoot, not sure why people say it is - other half shoots mine no problem and she's 5'5" and small built! In terms of drop, with a decent load and 150gr ballistic tip, it's not too bad at all really - comparable with anything much except the recognised fast calibres. Quote Link to post
